The meeting was brought to order at 7:35 p.m. by Council President Den Graeber. Worship opened with devotions. Everyone introduced themselves.  Nominations were opened for Council Officers.

MOTION MADE BY FRED KOOS TO NOMINATE DEN GRAEBER AS COUNCIL PRESIDENT FOR 2002. Seconded by Fred Gehlhaar. MOTION CARRIED. MOTION MADE BY WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN TO CLOSE NOMINATIONS FOR PRESIDENT AND ACCEPT DEN GRAEBER AS PRESIDENT FOR 2002. Seconded by Donna Gibbons. MOTION CARRIED.

MOTION MADE BY DEB STOPPER TO NOMINATE WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN AS COUNCIL VICE PRESIDENT FOR 2002. Seconded by Bob Eichelberger. MOTION CARRIED. MOTION MADE BY FRED KOOS TO CLOSE NOMINATIONS FOR VICE PRESIDENT AND ACCEPT WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN AS VICE PRESIDENT FOR 2002. Seconded by Ernie Zakrajsek. MOTION CARRIED.

REPORTS

Secretary's Report

The Secretary's Report for December 3,2001 will be reviewed at the next Council Meeting.

Treasurer's Report - see report for December 2001

Report shows $3,000 in the red starting the year.  The Advent offering was split between the Eaton Shelter and the Grand Ledge Food Bank - Christmas was incorrectly added to this amount which is the reason for showing $3,000 in the red.  Fred will correct this and send the checks out for the Advent offerings only. The remainder of the report was reviewed.

MOTION MADE BY WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN TO ACCEPT THE TREASURER'S REPORT FOR DECEMBER, WITH THE CORRECTION OF THE CHRISTMAS OFFERINGS TO BE MADE. Seconded by Fred Gehlhaar. MOTION CARRIED.

Committee Reports

Youth Committee - see written report of December 6,2001
There were 60 plus that attended the pizza party, which was the first Kids Club night.  Another event is coming up. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Fred Koos read in their report that they were planning to obtain first aid kits, and offered to maybe get better pricing on them.

Worship Committee - see written report of December 4, 2001
The Third Service Coordinating team continues its work, however, Denise Kelly is not able to chair the committee alone. They are looking for someone to help out. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Stewardship Committee -no written report
Had several mini-meetings - they are working on the committees having displays for each Sunday during January, Commitment Sunday and future cottage meetings. No Council Action required.

Property Committee - no written report
Had meeting on Saturday, then took down Nativity from the outside of the church. Question as to where the high chairs are - need to have them available for families on Sunday mornings. Tony will be working on lighting outside and Fred will be working on signs. No Council Action required.

Parish Education Committee - no written report
Met December 17^th (party). Christmas program went well. Happy Birthday Jesus Party was held after the program. No Council Action required.

Outreach Committee - see written report of November 14,2001 Report as written. No Council Action required.

Management Committee - no written report No Council Action required.

Health Ministries - see written report of December 19, 2001
A new senior citizens group has started, and they are calling themselves Luther League II.  Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Pastors' Reports

Pastor Cindy - No report. Not present.

Pastor Rick - see calendar for December, 2001
Pastor reviewed his report and explained how he writes it. A New Members class will begin in February. Announced that Council Retreat would be coming up. Pastor Barb Schmitts will be coming next Sunday - she will have a discussion on a liaison group regarding the controversy present in the congregation.

Memorial - no report

CORRESPONDENCE

The Youth received a letter with thank you for the food basket they received from them.

OLD BUSINESS - None

NEW BUSINESS

Reminder that AA is here Friday nights and Saturday mornings - events should be scheduled around them when at all possible.

Council Retreat will be scheduled for January 26^th at the Congregational Church. Annual reports information date has been changed to January 22^nd, preferably sent via e-mail.

Training for Council Representatives for passing out Communion will be done after church on February 3^rd.

The annual church calendar was reviewed.

Installation for Council Officers and Representatives will be January 13^th at the 10:30 service.

Wayne shared his feelings regarding Pastor Cindy.
