TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 12, 2007 COUNCIL MEETING

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

 

Treasurer's Report:

Approval of the February 12, 2007 minutes:

 

MOTION by:   Den Graeber   SECONDED by : David Kuntzsch

TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 12, 2007 COUNCIL MEETING

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

 

Guest Carl Ballard:

Carl made a presentation on his candidacy for ordination in the ELCA.  He is requesting prayer and support from Immanuel Lutheran Church.  Synod is also asking for a recommendation from Immanuel on Carl’s behalf.  Some financial support, taken from the Seminary fund as we are able, can be provided. 

Carl will interview on March 23rd and will find out if he’s been approved by March 24th for his candidacy into the program.   His training would begin in the fall of 2007.

 

MOTION by Teresa Barcy  SECONDED by David Kuntzsch

The Church Council of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Grand Ledge, MI makes a recommendation and supports Carl Ballard in his candidacy for ordained ministry in the ELCA.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED

 

Team Reports:

Pastor Rick: Written report.  No Council action required. 

Gathering Team: Written report.  No Council action required.

Preparing Team: Written report.  No Council action required.

Serving Team: Written report.  Council action requested:  Approve use of Church parking lot for Junk in your Trunk to be held April 29th or May 5th  (date to be reviewed by Support Team facility use calendar).  Event will include Congregational, Methodist, and St. Michael’s churches.  Proceeds going to Relay for Life.

 

MOTION:  by Teresa Barcy  SECONDED by:  Hanna Espie

Support Team: Written report.  Council action requested: Resolution that Support Team approves usage of Church and 501 Building for outside groups and members using the Fellowship Hall for non-church activities.

It was recommended the following change be made:  “…approves usage of Church and 501 Building for members using the Fellowship Hall for non-church activities.  Non-member/outside groups need Church Council approval for facility use.”

A resolution that Support Team approves usage of Church and 501 Building for members using the Fellowship Hall for non-church activities.  Non-member/outside groups need Church Council approval for facility use.

Serving

Approval of Synod Delegates:

 

MOTION by Teresa Barcy, SECONDED by David Kuntzsch

To approve Synod Delegates, Kira Ayoub and Carl Ballard, as 2007 Synod Assembly Delegates.

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED.

 

Review Council Goals:

  • Initiate the Natural Church Development program -- Pr. Schleicher has advised that a Natural Church Development representative will attend the April or May Council Meeting to further explain the program.
  • Monitor the Success of the Resource Teams.  Continue to work on improving communications within and among teams.
  • Encourage members to find their ministry.  The Spiritual Gift Inventory will be distributed to all members.

Planning Calendar:

  • April – Spring Clean Up (Support), Appoint Synod Delegates, Confirmation Celebration, Announce VBS, Pastor Vacation Schedule, Order Offering envelopes (Support), change worship sign (Support), summer worship schedule, Sunday School recruitment, Graduation Day celebration plans.
