COUNCIL MEETING

Minutes

April 23, 2001

The meeting was brought to order at 6:40 p.m. by Council President Den Graeber.  Den presented the costs involved to carry out the proposal of the Facility Use Task Force, as presented by an estimate received from Jim Therrian Construction.  Discussion followed.

Bob Kenworthy gave information on our present mortgage which is at $358,000 and 8.75% for 25 years.  Eaton Federal will let us add on another $80,000 for a total of $440,000 at 8.00% for 25 years.  There would be a $2,000 closing cost added in.  Our present monthly payment would go from $2,612 to $3,396.

At 7:15 p.m. a quorum was attained.

Discussion followed regarding the financing.

MOTION MADE BY WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN TO RECOMMEND TO THE CONGREGATION TO APPROVE THE CONCEPT OF THE FACILITY USE TASK FORCE WITH FUNDING TO BE ADDED TO THE PRESENT MORTGAGE AT 8.00% FOR 25 YEARS WITH FUNDING TO COME FROM SACRIFICIAL GIVING COMBINED WITH THE PRESENT MORTGAGE REDUCTION PLAN TO ATTEMPT TO RAISE SUFFICIENT FUNDS TO COVER THESE ADDED COSTS WITHIN THE NEXT SIX MONTHS.  Seconded by Deb Stopper.  MOTION CARRIED.

There was also discussion on how to present this to the Congregation on April 29th.  Den will try to do both approval of the proposal as well as the funding in one meeting, but may have to call a continuation for the following Sunday.
