COUNCIL MEETING

Minutes

June 5, 2000

Present: Larry Kruth, Jean Folk, Den Graeber, Amy Reed, Chris Frysinger, Ernie Zakrajsek, Carl Malkewitz, Barb Paulins, Denise Kelly, Sherry Wellman, Wayne Christiansen, Pat Anderson, Pastor Rick, Deb Stopper

Not Present: Becky Frysinger, Russ Riggs

Guests: Denise Lund

The meeting was brought to order at 7:35 p.m. by Council President Sherry Wellman.

 

Secretary's Report -no written minutes for May

May and June minutes will need to be reviewed at the July meeting.

 

Treasurer's Report -see final report for April, 2000

MOTION MADE BY CARL MALKEWITZ TO ACCEPT THE TREASURER'S FINAL REPORT FOR APRIL 2000. Seconded by Larry Kruth. MOTION CARRIED.

The corner property was discussed. Possibility, with congregational approval, that we can obtain it.

May preliminary report was reviewed.

REPORTS

Pastor's Report -see written report for May, 2000

MOTION MADE BY LARRY KRUTH TO ACCEPT INTO MEMBERSHIP BY AFFIRMATION OF FAITH: HERMAN AND YVONNE KOOS, LISA BARCY-BAPTISTA AND CHRISTINE JANOSKO. Seconded by Ernie Zakrajsek. MOTION CARRIED.

Pastor reviewed the members of the church on the prayer list.

Pastor made a request that the congregation stay united with everyone -all members and with God -and find that while a pastor is necessary I he is not indispensable.

Management Committee -see written report for May 17, 2000 

Larry reviewed the report. No Council Action required.

Outreach Committee -see written report of May 10, 2000

MOTION MADE BY DEN GRAEBER TO APPROVE MARLAINE TEAHAN AS A MEMBER OF OUTREACH COMMITTEE FOR THE REMAINDER OF 2000. Seconded by Wayne Christiansen. MOTION CARRIED.

Thank you to Joy Powis for all her years on their committee. Remainder of report as written.

Parish Education -see written report of May 15, 2000

VBS will be meeting to discuss upcoming week August 7th through 11th. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Property Committee -see written report of May 20, 2000

Must have parking lot re sealed this summer. Tony Holland is going to handle this. Wet stain on basement carpet was discussed. Going to get commercial cleaner . Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Stewardship Committee -no written report

Working on more cottage meetings. Nothing else to report. No Council Action required.

Worship Committee -see written report of May 2, 2000

Extreme Worship will be handled by Denise Kelly until someone else can do it. Doug Armstead has resigned as choir director as of the end of June. Job will be posted. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Youth Committee -see written report of May 15, 2000 

Youth are having a can drive.

Jennifer Dodge and Jan Martinich have resigned from Youth Committee. Wayne reviewed remainder of report. No Council Action required.

Women of the E.L.C.A.

"Eve's Garden Party" was wonderful. There was a large amount that attended - around 70.

Memorial Committee -see written report of April 10, 2000 Report as written. No Council Action required.

OLD BUSINESS

Audit Report was reviewed and discussed. MOTION MADE BY LARRY KRUTH TO ACCEPT THE REPORT AS WRITTEN. Seconded by Den Graeber. MOTION CARRIED.

Reviewed the Congregational Goals for 2000, including the Sabbatical Schedule and report of the Call Committee.

Picnic in Fitzgerald Park is schedule for July 30th, right after church service. Council is hosting this.

NEW BUSINESS

Program being offered for some churches -18 month commitment- titled "Splash - the Ripples of the Baptized". See Sherry Wellman for more details.

The next Council meeting will be July 10th at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Sherry and Richard Wellman.

The annual church calendar was reviewed. Added -start thinking of people to run for Council for 2001.

Note -suggested the church look at and consider buying a canopy

The meeting ended at 9:05 p.m., and was closed with the Lord's Prayer.
