Gathering

Matt Cermak called the meeting to order @ 6:39 p.m.  Council shared highs and lows.  Matt opened the meeting with a prayer.

 

Preparing

Treasurer's Report:

Pat Anderson reviewed the Treasurer’s Reports for May and June.

 

MOTION by  Dan Landry   SECONDED by Tom Mattson:

            TO MOVE WHEATRIDGE MINISTRY MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $824.09 AND AA DONATION MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $350 TO THE GENERAL FUND LINE ITEM IN THE TREASURER’S REPORT.

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED

 

MOTION by  John Kingsley   SECONDED by Dan Landry:

            TO APPROVE THE MAY TREASURER’S REPORT

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED

 

MOTION by  Jim Teahan   SECONDED by Raymond Harris:

            TO MOVE FUTURE MINISTERIAL STAFF FUND MONEY IN THE AMOUNT OF $8,459.53 TO THE PARSONAGE DEMOLITION PROJECT TO FULLY FUND THE PROJECT AND PROCEED WITH DEMOLITION. 

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED

            TO APPROVE THE JUNE TREASURER’S REPORT

Approval of Previous Council Minutes:

 

MOTION by: Tom Mattson  SECONDED by: Patsy Galvin                      

TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE MAY 12, 2008 COUNCIL MEETING.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

 

Team Reports:

Support Team: Written report submitted.  Council action on Support issues was taken during the consideration of the Treasurer’s Reports for May and June.  Council discussed options for how the two distinct functions of the Support Team: Management and Building responsibilities will best work together.  It was the sense of Council that building functions were not being handled as well as they have in the past.  Matt charged Council members to think and pray about how these functions could be organized to best serve the congregation.

New Business:

Council received an email from Lisa Baptista requesting permission to raise additional money for the parsonage demolition project with a garage sale.  Council discussed that with the shift of funds from the Future Ministerial Staff Fund to the Parsonage Demolition Project, the project was fully funded.  Council decided that the Major Maintenance line item would be an appropriate line item to receive the money from this fundraiser.

 

MOTION by: John Kingsley SECONDED by Tom Mattson:             

TO APPROVE A SECOND GARAGE SALE AT THE PARSONAGE SITE WITH DATES TO BE DETERMINED IN SEPTEMBER OR OCTOBER WITH PROCEEDS GOING TO THE MAJOR MAINTENANCE LINE ITEM.  LISA BAPTISTA WILL COORDINATE.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

 

Council received a written request from Elizabeth Ayoub requesting approval to send a member to the NCC Eco-Justice Program conference October 9-11, 2008 in Minnesota.  Council referred this request to the Serving Team for action.

 

Planning Calendar:

  • July – Plan Fall clean-up, Recruit Sunday School Teachers
  • August – VBS, organize first communion & confirmation classes, begin prep for annual budget, plans for Sunday School Rally Day, recruit Sunday School teachers, plan fall clean up, nominating committee seeks to fill vacant Council positions.

Announcements preceding the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Service will be given by the following Council Members:

  July 27th Tom Mattson
  August 3rd Matt Cermak
  August 10th Tom Mattson

Our next regular meeting is on August 11, 2008 at 6:30 pm
