Gathering

Mike called the meeting to order @ 6:40 p.m.

Thank you letters to the congregation from Sr. High Youth who attended the Mission Trip to North Dakota this summer were read aloud.

Pr. Rick opened with prayer.

Preparing

Treasurer's Report:

Mike Proper reviewed the August 2007 Treasurer’s Report.  Mike noted that with Pr. Rick just returning from sabbatical, the budget line item SABBATICAL SENIOR PASTOR did not need to have as much money in it as it currently does ($6,956.74).

MOTION by Teresa Barcy SECONDED by Gregg Vicary

            TO APPROVE THE AUGUST 2007 TREASURER’S REPORT

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED

Council requested the Support Team to review the $6,956.74 in the SABBATICAL SENIOR PASTOR line item of the budget and make a recommendation to Council regarding its best use.

TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 13, 2007 COUNCIL MEETING.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

Team Reports:

Serving Team: No quorum at the last meeting.  No minutes submitted

Preparing Team: Written report submitted.  No Council action required.

Gathering Team: Written report submitted and discussed.  No Council action required.

Support Team: Written report submitted and discussed.  No Council action required.

Pastor’s Report: Pastor Rick gave an overview of his sabbatical work and studies.

Serving

Old Business:

Natural Church Development: Data gathering is starting in September

Small Group Ministry Coordinator:  Teresa Barcy and Dennis Graeber will meet with 
Pr. Rick this month to agree on a direction for small group ministries.

New Business:

Correspondence:  Judy Koos has written the Council requesting permission to use the commercially licensed kitchen at Immanuel temporarily, starting in mid-September, to make candy and desserts.  The issue was referred to the Support Team to make a recommendation to Council.

Budget:  Support Team is starting the 2008 budget process.

Planning Calendar:

• September – Sunday school teacher retreat, Confirmation Classes begin, Fall Worship Schedule Begins, Sunday School Begins, Rally Sunday, Publicize Fall Clean Up, Announce Stewardship Program, Promote Crop Walk, Nomination Committee Continue to promote Council positions available, First Communion Classes, Plan First Communion Celebration
   
• October – Council Approves Budget, Mail Proposed budget and nominations to congregation, Announce annual budget meeting, Stewardship Program, Host First communion celebration, Begin plans for Christmas service and flower orders.
