COUNCIL MEETING

Minutes

October 4, 1999

Present: Larry Kruth, Den Graeber, Jean Folk, Chris Frysinger, Sherry Wellman, Holly Plunkett, Margo Holland, Carl Malkewitz, Jan Martinich, Nikkol Allen, Becky Frysinger, Deb Stopper

Not Present: Lyn Danes, Russ Riggs, Lynn Diffell, Pastor Rick

Guests: Denise Lund, Kendall Larson, Fred Gehlhaar, Steve Colby, Dawn Mielke

The meeting was brought to order at 7:35 pm by Council President Sherry Wellman. Stewardship opened with devotions. Fred Gehlhaar introduced our new custodian, Dawn Mielke. Everyone introduced themselves.

Secretary's Report - see written report of September 13, 1999.

Typo - the Women's Thankoffering Sunday is Sunday November 21st, not Thursday, November 11th.

+ MOTION MADE BY LARRY KRUTH TO ACCEPT THE SECRETARY'S REPORT FOR SEPTEMBER 13, 1999 AS CORRECTED. Seconded by Jean Folk. MOTION CARRIED.

Treasurer's Report - see final report for August, 1999

Discussion on continuing, growing deficit.

Outreach Committee - see written report of September 15, 1999

NEED greeters and coffee hour people. Asking committees to each do a Sunday or two. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Parish Ed Committee - see written report of September 20, 1999

+ MOTION MADE BY CHRIS FRYSINGER TO APPROVE MARTHA RODEWALD AS A MEMBER OF PARISH ED COMMITTEE FOR THE REMAINDER OF 1999. Seconded by Carl Malkewitz. MOTION CARRIED. Remainder of report as written.

Property Committee - see written report of September 18, 1999

Fall Cleanup is October 16th. Discussion on closing alley. Committee has agreed this is the best way to go. Will review at next Council Meeting. Property wants to close stairwell at a cost of $2,000. Discussion followed. Property will take back to committee. Remainder of report as written. No Council Action required.

Stewardship Committee - see written report of September 21, 1999

+ MOTION MADE BY HOLLY PLUNKETT TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF JAY CARDINAL FROM THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. Seconded by Carl Malkewitz. MOTION CARRIED.

+ MOTION MADE BY HOLLY PLUNKETT TO ACCEPT THE RESIGNATION OF BARBARA PAULINS AS THE CHURCH'S FINANCIAL SECRETARY EFFECTIVE DECEMBER 31, 1999. Seconded by Den Graeber. MOTION CARRIED.

+ MOTION MADE BY HOLLY PLUNKETT TO ACCEPT THE APPOINTMENT OF JIM TEEHAN AS THE CHURCH'S FINANCIAL SECRETARY EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2000. Seconded by Nikkol Allen. MOTION CARRIED.

+ MOTION MADE BY HOLLY PLUNKETT TO ACCEPT JIM TEEHAN AS A MEMBER OF THE STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE FOR THE REMAINDER OF 1999. Seconded by Carl Malkewitz. MOTION CARRIED.

Worship Committee - no written report - 9-26 through 12-12 Worship Schedule

No meeting since last Council Meeting. Next scheduled meeting 10-5. No Council Action required.

Youth Committee - See written report of September 21, 1999

+ MOTION MADE BY LARRY KRUTH TO APPROVE A HALLOWEEN DANCE ON OCTOBER 24TH, INVITING AREA YOUTH GROUPS TO PARTICIPATE Seconded by Nikkol Allen. MOTION CARRIED. Remainder of report as written.

NEW BUSINESS

Larry Kruth presented the proposed Budget for 2000, and explained Management's increases, decreases, as well as all committees' changes. Discussion followed, along with changes to the proposed budget.

+ MOTION MADE BY CARL MALKEWITZ TO ACCEPT THE PROPOSED BUDGET FOR 2000 INCLUSIVE OF CHANGES. Seconded by Jan Martinich. Discussion followed. MOTION CARRIED.

+ MOTION MADE BY DEN GRAEBER TO GIVE AAL BRANCH 4252 APPROVAL TO DO THE BASKETS OF HOPE (AN ANNUAL EVENT) ON NOVEMBER 14TH, WITH ENVELOPES IN THE PEWS FOR DONATIONS AND A SPECIAL COFFEE HOUR. Seconded by Nikkol Allen. MOTION CARRIED.

The annual Church calendar was reviewed.

The date for the November Council Meeting will be the 1st at 7:30 pm.

The meeting ended at 9:25 pm and closed with the Doxology.
