Gathering

Matt Cermak called the meeting to order at 6:42 p.m.  Pr. Rick led a devotion and opened the meeting with a prayer.

Preparing

Treasurer's Report:

Matt reviewed the Treasurer’s Report for November.  The deficit in the general fund has shrunk considerably to $6,817.73.  Council noted that there were five Sundays in November, so income was up.  Additionally, expenses this month appear to be lower than normal.

MOTION by Dan Landry SECONDED by Tom Mattson:

            TO ACCEPT THE TREASURER’S REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2008.

UNANIMOUSLY CARRIED

Approval of Previous Council Minutes:

MOTION by: Tom Mattson  SECONDED by  Patsy Galvin:

TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 10, 2008 COUNCIL MEETING AS DRAFTED. 

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

Team Reports:

Pastor’s Report: Written report submitted.  

MOTION by: Dan Landry  SECONDED by  Tom Mattson:

TO RECEIVE INTO CONFIRMED MEMBERSHIP OF THE CONGREGATION, MELODY CRANDALL, BY AFFIRMATION OF FAITH.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

Serving Team:  Serving Team did not meet in November.

Old Business:  

New Maintenance Position

Mike Pitchford is the only applicant for the new position so far.  The deadline for applications is 12/14.  Soon thereafter a decision will be made.

Recycling

Earthkeeping Team has requested Council pass a motion making recycling the church’s policy.  The sense of Council is that more and continual education of the congregation will make recycling more natural to the members.  Council deferred further discussion on the issue to the February meeting at the Council Retreat.

New Business:  

Planning for 2009 Council Retreat

Matt is planning the agenda for the retreat.  The dates are tentatively set for January 23/24  and will serve as the February Council meeting, too.

TO NAME DAN LANDRY AS CHARTER ORGANIZATION REPRESENTATIVE AND WAYNE CHRISTIANSEN AS TROOP LEADER FOR BOY SCOUT TROOP 901 AT IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.

Closing

Planning Calendar:

• December – Publicize Christmas Services, Host Hanging of the Greens, Make Arrangements for Council Retreat, Annual Reports from Teams.
• January – Election of Council Officers, Installment of Council, Appointment of Tellers, Annual Reports, Recruit Synod Delegates, Boy Scout Sunday, Pastor Annual Evaluation, Register for Elementary and Confirmation Camps, Plan for Easter Breakfast, Easter Services, Easter Plant order.

Announcements:

Announcements preceding the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Services in the weeks before the next Council meeting will be given by the following Council Members:
